You could say that this store provided a similar service to Tesco, Sainbury and Ocado whereby you could order your groceries and have them delivered. In the 1950s a lady from Hockeys used to call on my Nan (Grandma) and take her order which was subsequently delivered from the shop. She even had a record of my Nan's previous orders and went through them to make sure there was nothing she had forgotten. Actually she was trying to make sure that she sold as many items as possible! However this goes to show that having your groceries delivered is far from a new idea!
